The atmosphere was excellent. The food was really good. Prices averaged between $10-$24. A lot of different choices. The chips and salsa were good. The parking can be tricky at times.

The food came in an excessive quantity and was very bland. They need to reduce the quantity and increase the quality. As a restaurant, food quality is #1. Both stars off due to this. However, the outside seating in the back was great. Heaters provide plenty of comfort even on a chilly night, and the huge tree in the middle is stunning. The colorful flags and lights complete the experience.

This is always a go to for my wife and I when we are in San Diego. The service and the atmosphere are amazing, but the food speaks for itself! From enchiladas to mole, you cant go wrong with anything on the menu!

Went into the bar to hang out till the train came. Bartender brought me a great Mexican drink...milk & cinnamon. Yum Great food. I've eaten there many times. Good service.

Came here based on the reviews and proximity to my hotel. For one on a Saturday night I had about a 30-minute wait. But I came around 6:00. Food was pretty good, though I had better a few times further north. My expectations were high. Service was fabulous, and the atmosphere was festive with lots of color and a live mariachi band that roamed around. Lots of great safe evening walking around old town SD nearby, so a great place to hang out at for the evening.

Great atmosphere! The service, food, and drinks were on point! A special thank you to Raquel Noriega, restaurant supervisor, for her hospitality and warm welcoming.

I have come here a half dozen times and the food is on point every time. I don't care if it is rather "touristy", the place is amazing and delivers every time! The staff are super, the food is excellent, and there is live music to boot. The prices are perfect for what you get: consistent, delicious, amazing food.

Outstanding service by Maria our waitress. We have had her several times at the bar section. She's always the same with her outstanding service. Our exchange students from Korea very much enjoyed the food & service. We have bn coming there for 30 yrs.its one of our favorites. :-)

Absolutely fantastic food, very authentic and fresh. The chips and salsa are like none other! I highly recommend visiting this place if you're an Authentic Mexican food fan.

The food here is always amazing. I do recommended always calling ahead for a reservation though, even if the hostess says you don't really need one, because they can go from dead to packed in 5 minutes.

Lip smacking food, large serves, so ethnic and cultural. Just amazing. We loved dining with them. Recommend by a local and so glad we took his advice and visited. If you wanna have some good Mexican food at San Diego, go here.

Food taste generic not authentic Mexican food. Service has gone down so bad. Their one of the busiest restaurants in old town they don't give good service cuz of how busy they are. And that blasting in ur brain Mariachi music is so over whelming cant even have a conversation with the people ur with. Their not providing quality food n service as they did for many yrs. No pride in food n service...just numbers for them...get them in n out as fast as they can. Its mostly tourist now cuz locals are disappointed with whats become of this restaurant 👎

Recently celebrated an anniversary here, and our meal, drinks, service and setting were ALL absolutely perfect. Thank you so much! Best in town. ðŸ‘

Great Mexican place in Old Town. The seafood dishes are fantastic, especially their tequila line shrimp and seafood chimichanga. Amazing margaritas. The only thing that didn't wow me was their salsa - it was fairly bland.

You can't get more authentic Mexican food than in this place. The atmosphere was excellent. Prices averaged between $10-$24. A lot of different choices. The chips and salsa were good. The parking can be tricky at times.

This place was AMAZING! Was well worth our 45 minute wait for a table. The ambiance on the back patio was great for date night. The Mariachi's playing and the service was impeccable! Food was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be making this a stop every time we are in town.

One of my favorite Mexican food restaurants in San Diego! The plates are large, the drinks overflowing, and the mariachi music flows through the air reminiscing Mexico. Everytime family and friends come to town I love taking them to this authentic restaurant and they never let me down! Always a crowd but worth the wait, make a reservation if you have a large group.

One of the very best authentic, real deal Mexican restaurants in San Diego. You can not go wrong here.

I have been here multiple times. Have always had a wonderful time. The food is great! The margaritas are even better ! The back patio is gorgeous and my favorite place to sit. They have heaters so even later into the night when it gets a bit colder you are comfortable. The mariachi that is playing and going around the restaurant adds a festive touch and is entertaining. The bar is fun too! They have tons of different tequilas. I love this place and always find myself coming back to eat.

Came with my family who was visiting from out of town on a Saturday night. Large space, great for groups. Food was delicious and felt authentic. The services was quick and fantastic. Of course they had a mariachi band to set the mood. We didn’t drink that night but our neighbors did. That margaritas were flowing all night long.

Good place. I am a vegetarian and there was a decent amount on the menu. Enchiladas were good

This place was so aunthentic and extremely delicious. Sitting outside was quite the experience with the string lights and massive trees and beautiful plants everywhere. You feel like you are in an oasis. The portions were huge and no one left hungry! Best place for Mexican in Old Town for sure you won't be disappointed!

This place is located just before you enter Old Town on Taylor and Juan street. From the outside this establishment looks very small, but the dining area is huge. You can either be inside or dine in the courtyard. I really love the ambiance of this place, from the wall decor all the way to the staff's uniform. The food was very good and very filling and our server's service was great. The only thing I dislike from the experience was they never followed through on your request for extra plates. We asked two different food runners and both understood and asked how many, but never returned to our table to give us what we requested. Otherwise, I would have given a 5 star rating.

I was visiting from out of town and my friend recommended this restaurant. It’s in a super quaint area called Old Town. The decor was authentic Mexican, the service was great and the food was outstanding! I asked what the best items were on the menu and at the top was the shrimp taco dish. I went for it and they were literally the best shrimp tacos I’ve ever had. They had mango in them which gave them a sweet taste. So good! Highly recommend!!!

Love the food here. Never disappoints. I definitely will keep coming back.

Cool open space out side. Nice atmosphere and great food. And oh yes, tequila!

Very busy and loud during weekends, but quieter during the weekdays. food for the most part is great. Unfortunately the day I went the flan was really bad, sticky and thick I won't ever order that again. My favorite dish is their combo fajitas. they have a separate bar area that has a small appetizer table which is nice to accompany the delicious alcoholic drinks they serve. the staff has always been really nice. awesome spot for happy hour. Outdoor patio is available. group party area is available. they have mariachi most times I have been there.

Great food. Lots of energy in this place. If your looking for a quiet night out, this isn't for you. Staff was friendly. Good place for a group of people to go. They have good accommodations.

Undoubtably the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I don't live in the area, my parents live down in San Diego area so every time we go down there we go to Casa Guadalajara. The service is also impeccable. That place is like a well-oiled machine

This place is definitely cozy and relaxing. The food is on point to quality cuisine. The flour tortillas are second to none. We frequently take a dozen home whenever we visit. They are fresh, use real ingredients such as lard, and always melt away in your mouth. Sometimes it can be tedious to request some tortillas to go as they make them fresh and will not always allow you to place a Togo order.

Great Place to eat at Old Town in San Diego. Large portions, big menu including a page of just margs, can’t go wrong here. Mariachi guitarists also circle the tables - recommend getting a table outside.
Leisa Watkins
I have eaten here a few times when in town for vacation. The meal has been delicious every time. The hardest part is deciding what to have as they have a large menu section. I love their salsa. Will return here to eat often when in San Diego.

Came on a Saturday very busy but still good service! Plates are very full alot of food! I did not have alcoholic beverages cant comment one that. Food was good not Great and plates are well put together. We couldn't find parking on the premises so beware of paying for parking if you want to park close in a busy day. Place is very nice , Mexican traditional feel.

Absolutely love this place. Perfect Margaritas, great service and very good food. Enjoyed the fish tacos a lot, wife loves the taquitos!

Re-purposed to my Fiance and gave her a "real" ring. Best $17 I've ever spent. Dinner was delicious and cost twice as much. 12/10, will be back. Oh, and the Mariachi rocks!!

The long wait is always worth it. Delicious food. Great service.

Real authentic Mexican food! The salsa was delicious! Our waitress, Angela, was very friendly and helpful! Definitely would go back!

The complimentary chips and salsa were much better than the meals we ordered. The margarita was "from the hose". The decor and ambiance is nice and the staff was friendly. Overall, I think it's too touristy and the food suffers for it.

A must visit restaurant on your trip to San Diego, they have amazing margaritas and fajitas. They had the most soft tortillas I have ever eaten and it’s cooked fresh daily as you can see from pics below. A side note don’t order chicken taquitos, they had no flavor, the only regret I had. But overall amazing food and ambience.

Very busy place even on weekdays! I personally did not like anything but everyone one else was happy with their plate. The flan though was on the thicker side but delicious. Service was fast, singer wasn’t great, and outside seating had cozy heaters.

Great service and Atmosphere. I love going to old town and eating here with my family. Parking can get a bit tight ,so carpool or plan to walk.

This place used to be great ...we visited on a later afternoon in 2019 Christmas, after many year. Salsa was watery and food had no flavor. They were overwhelmed probably due to the holidays. Also the attraction we revisited for was the Mariachi band. But we were told that they will play only in the evening. We were disappointed, because we were looking forward to going back to this place for many years.

Great spot in Old Town. Parking no problem. Margaritas very good. Bar and wait staff superb.

Decoration: Very good. Everything is Mexican themed and colorful.Service: Good. Quick and polite service.Food: Very good. The menu include different choices from Taco to Salads.

The food is good - it's done well enough, but most importantly it's ALWAYS the same, perfectly consistent. Why you come here is the people and the atmosphere - anytime of year it's perfect. Indoor / outdoor - perfect. Great people, color, lights, fresco... the theme of this area is old-time border town and this place NAILS it!!

Has improved from touristy basics to better food and drink. Solo guitarist leaves plenty of time to talk (mariachi groups in past were overwhelming!). Staff work hard to please you, in a friendly, personable manner. Happy we didn't let too many years go by to rediscover this place.

No idea why the ratings are so high on Google! Yelp more accurately rated this place 3.5 stars and that's still bit generous. We drove by looking for a Mexican restaurant in Old Town. This one looks cool with all the lights and decor on the outside.Um now I can't see what I'm typing because the review page won't scroll up!Anyway, the decor is the only thing good about this place. Food was expensive and lacked flavor. Wife's fish Taco also bad. Service was non existent.Look else where. We won't go back.

Can’t say it enough , pictures don’t do this food justice!! Everything we had was amazing and this is our first time here!!! Service was fast , food was great , drinks were great and mariachi band serenade of the night away!! All thumbs up

It's a tourist trap. Music was too loud. Salsa and bean too salty. Pricey. Long wait, very crowded (Saturday night). Chip was good though (minus the salty salsa)

I had the shrimp, avocado crisp. This plate filled me up for lunch and dinner. Think of a crispy tortilla about 12" diameter with beans, bell peppers, tomatoes, avocado and shrimp super tasty.I've been going here for over 20 years and enjoy every visit.
